Wizard of Oz: Set & Prop Build Day 1

March 9 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Build Day for Wizard of Oz on March 9th!

We need our play families to step up and help us make these days amazing! Please plan to attend one or both of the build days with one or more of your kiddos. They are really a lot of fun, and a great way for the kids to feel more engaged with the play.

We have a great plan from our STC director, and we have the AMAZING expertise of some Mission parents who are leading the sets and props committee! We are really excited to get started creating pieces both large and small for the play.

We will be at the Carruth home, and you can drop in for an hour or stay the whole time, between 10 am and 4pm on Saturday, March 9th! We will have a variety of projects to help with, something for everyone, from simple to more complex and creative! And feel free to bring older siblings, grandparents, or anyone who is handy and would enjoy helping out! Dress to get to work- wear old clothes that can get paint or dirty on them, and wear closed toe shoes for safety!

Some examples of projects might be:

-Painting the gates to the Emerald City- bright green, of course!

-Building the Kansas house- grayscale/ simple

-Creating colorful backdrops and houses for Munchkinland

-Making apples, corn, flowers, and other props

If you want to support with this, but aren’t able to attend those days, we can get you set up with a project to do on your own time! Email Destin Jones about the set (think BIG pieces that are used to set the stage) and Kate Kons about props (think smaller items that characters use while on stage). We will find you a project that you can work on to contribute to the play! We will also put out a list of items we might need to borrow that you may already have lying around (witches broom, basket, etc)- so be on the lookout for that!

Please plan to bring along any tools that are easy to transport and might come in handy, including saws, drills, staple guns, scissors, etc (just be sure to label with your name!) We could also use colorful tissue paper, newspaper for paper mache, and glue for paper mache.
