Family Engagement

Family Fun Nights are evening activities sponsored by the PTA after suggestions from parents, staff and PTA members.
Typically, two to three events are held each school year. Past fun nights have included a family movie nights, craft evening, family dance, fitness workout, and bowling. These events are open to all Mission families and are age appropriate for K-6 students. Since parents attend with their children, most of these events require only a few volunteers and a core committee has not been established. The Family Fun Night Chairperson coordinates the scheduling details with school and/or the vendor.

How You Can Help:

Parents can volunteer to help with a single family evening or all events during the year. Parent room representatives will send out information asking for volunteer help prior to each Fun Night. Interested parents can respond to their room representative or contact the chairperson directly.

Parents can also help in the following ways:

• Make posters advertising the event
• Put posters up at school 2 weeks prior
• Collect registrations from participants and maintain a list
• Assist with family check-in the night of the event
• Help with set-up 30-40 minutes prior if needed
• Help with clean-up at the end if needed (Fun Nights end by 8 PM.)
• Help serve food/refreshments as needed
• Work directly with families to facilitate activities
