We are thrilled to announce that this year’s All-School Musical will be Willy Wonka Jr! Auditions will be Monday, December 13 and Wednesday December 15 in the Multi-purpose room. Please register your student(s) as soon as possible.
Based on the classic book by Roald Dahl, Willy Wonka Jr. tells the story of the famous candy inventor, Willy Wonka, and the chaos that ensues when he decides to open his factory gates to five lucky kids and their parents for a tour. The story follows a young boy named Charlie Bucket and his journey from poverty to winning the ultimate prize, and it is much greater than a lifetime supply of chocolate. Willy Wonka Jr. touches on the troubles that are brought about when kids are left to be spoiled and bossy, and also shows how you can make beautiful things with a touch of “pure imagination.”
About the Mission All-School Musical
The All-School Musical is a long standing tradition at Mission and Mission PTA is thrilled to bring another artistic educational opportunity to our school community. Every child is welcome to participate in the musical. Each age group has a unique role to play, from the special shortened rehearsals and musical numbers for our kindergarten and 1st grade students, to the lead casting for 5th and 6th graders. Students get to try their hand at all levels of the production from how to plan out a scene to where lights should go to highlight the action. From solo singing to stage hand, there’s something for everyone.
Registration Required to Audition
All students who would like to participate MUST audition. (No student who wants to participate will be turned away, but auditions are required for casting.)
Participation Fee: $40 per student. Sorry, no sibling discounts. The participation fee is due at the time of registration. The participation fee helps pay for costumes, scenery, professional personnel, performance rights, and other production costs. The Mission PTA subsidizes the production, generally at a rate of $70 per student, to help keep the participation fee low. If your student decides they don’t want to do the musical within the first three rehearsals, you may request a refund of your participation fee. After three rehearsals, no refunds will be given. Some volunteer positions are of a commitment level to warrant having their student’s participation fee waived. See the Volunteer Job Descriptions for additional information.
Scholarship Funds: Limited scholarship funds are available to families for whom the participation fee/s would be a hardship. Please fill out a Mission PTA scholarship request form (available in the office) and turn it in with your registration packet if you would like to request participation fee assistance. Funds are limited and offered on a first come, first served basis. All requests for financial assistance will be handled by school staff and the Mission PTA Executive Board in a confidential and respectful manner.
