The Literacy Programs committee helps to address the needs of the school library, while promoting a love of books and reading. The committee works very closely and with a lot of guidance from Mrs. Kelley in the Library to plan two major events during the school year: The Book Fair and Author Day.
Although most of the planning is done throughout the year, there are a lot of opportunities to help at the events. The book fair is one week long and we need a lot of volunteers to make it happen.
Author Day is a very unique event and we are lucky to be able to bring an author to our school each year. It usually falls in January and we devote an entire day to the author, the MP Room is decorated and each class picks a book from the author to read. Usually there are books for sale before the event, and the author will sign autographs as time allows.
