Giving Tuesday: Keep the Fire Burning

This Giving Tuesday please consider a donation to help repair the pottery kiln at Mission Avenue Open School. The Mission PTA purchased the current kiln for Mission in 2012, but it is now in need of major repairs. Our goal is to raise $2000 to repair the kiln. Any funds raised above the cost of the repairs will be used exclusively for art education at Mission.

You may be wondering, why do we need a kiln? The kiln is used to fire the special ceramic projects the students make in each grade, including the kindergarten couch and snowman plate, 1st grade Mother’s Day dish, 2nd grade cookie press, 3rd grade Pt. Reyes tide pool creatures, 4th grade cupcakes, 5th grade leaves, and 6th grade chair.

In addition to being keepsakes for your family, students develop creativity and improve motor skills, sensory development, and problem solving through the art education they receive by working with clay at Mission.

You can make a tax-deductible donation online at missionpta.org/donate. If you prefer to write a check, you can drop a donation in the office at any time. Make checks out to “MAOS PTA.”
